The Communications sub-committee is responsible for developing, maintaining and providing content for the communications platforms of the Sands community. The communications platform is made up of the Sands community web site (www.thesandscommunity.com.au), the bi-monthly newsletter, the “A” frame signage and the resident email database. The sub-committee also maintains an active presence on the facebook pages of the Sands Torquay community group.

New Website

A new website for the Sands community is currently under construction and will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2018. The key objectives of the new site are:

• easy to use with only a small part being password protected;
• a URL which is easily remembered – http://www.thesandscommunity.com.au;
• clear and current information on the activities of the OC and all its sub-committees;
• an easy to use calendar of events for residents with information on OC events, Peppers The Sands events, Torquay events and regional events of interest to residents;
• clear and current information for residents on the plans and codes of the Sands Estate;

Newsletter

The objective for 2018/9 is to publish the newsletter bi monthly in a professional format with information which is both relevant and of interest to residents.

Signage

“A” frame signs are used to alert residents to nature strip mowing and the need to remove cars from the nature strips.

“A” frame signs are also used to advertise upcoming events such as residents drinks, AGMs etc;

Database Management

The maintenance of the resident email database is a critical function of the sub committee to ensure it is accurate and regularly updated as residents move into and out of the estate.
